A locker arrangement for stowing stem glasses at sea

What is the issue?
Yachts are inhospitable environments for glasses. This is especially the case for delicate stem glasses used for wine. As a consequence yachts tend to use heavy tumbler glasses or go for plastic alternatives.

Why address this?
Of all the tableware, glassware is the sensitive item one can drink out. This is even marked by what is being consumed and when it comes to a wine even the quality and type of the glass comes into question. Try sipping your next fine wine out of a fruit juice glass tumbler and a crystal glass and draw your own conclusion. If you enjoy refined spirits or a nice wine you will never be happy drinking out of polycarbonate or a heavy glass tumbler.

How to address this?
High-quality glasses enhance the beauty and flavour of wine but as is said in the industry...they’re more delicate than a bride’s emotions on her wedding day. Both must be treated tenderly or they’ll get hurt.

So if you enjoy your wine it is worthwhile setting aside a locker to create a bespoke rack especially tailored for stem glasses and glass tumblers. You can also get break resistant and shatterproof stem glasses Experience.

The trick is to get a specific set of stem glasses and tailor the ‘T’ cuts precisely to their width. The end of the ‘T’ creates a natural seat to accommodate the stems widening above the foot of the glass. This recess will hold the glass in place when hung.

Tumbler glasses may be set into tight fitting seats that are easily cut out of a footboard with a hole-saw. They should drop down deep and then wedge tight to hold them firmly in place.
