Tidy mooring warp ends when berthing in marinas or harbour walls

Be the first to comment

What is the issue?
Excess mooring warps have a tendency to untidily cluttering decks and be uncomfortable to walk upon. Coiling them does help but they will remain a bulky coil by the mooring cleat.

Why address this?
Primarily this looks untidy and does nothing for boat pride when alongside. However stumbling uncomfortably over excess warp ends is a nuisance and can cause people to trip.

How to address this?
Roll in the excess warps as show in figure 1. This approach only takes a few minutes and it makes the vessel look ‘ship shape and Bristol fashion’. The rolled warp is entirely comfortable to walk upon.
