Arrows represent the direction of tidal streams with lighter or shorter arrows indicating weaker streams. Stronger streams are indicated by heavier or longer arrows, and as mentioned above, red arrows flagging rates of 3 knots and above. Numerals represent [mean neap, mean spring] rates in tenths of a knot. For example the numbers 12,23 would indicate a mean neap of 1.2 knots and a mean spring of 2.3 knots.

The tide seldom falls lower than 0.9m above CD in the harbour area.
From 1.5 hours before, Dover -0100, until 4 hours after high water a westerly stream runs across the harbour entrance. The easterly stream begins 1.5 hours before low water, Dover +0430, and continues until 2 hours before high water.

Today: After a mainly dry but cloudy start, it should brighten up through the morning. However, scattered showers will develop, and these becoming more widespread and locally heavy and thundery during the afternoon. Maximum Temperature 18C.
Tonight: Showers gradually easing through the evening, with most parts becoming dry after midnight. With light winds, a few mist or fog patches are possible by dawn. Minimum Temperature 6C.
Tuesday: Some bright or sunny spells, but with scattered showers across the region by afternoon. Showers again possibly heavy and thundery, but tending to ease during the evening. Maximum Temperature 18C.
Outlook for Wednesday to Friday: Sunshine and locally heavy showers on Wednesday. Much of Thursday dry and bright, but wind and rain by evening. Windy on Friday with showers or some longer spells of rain.
