Stronger streams are indicated by heavier or longer arrows, and as mentioned above, red arrows flagging rates of 3 knots and above. Numerals represent [mean neap, mean spring] rates in tenths of a knot. For example the numbers 12,23 would indicate a mean neap of 1.2 knots and a mean spring of 2.3 knots.

This Evening and Tonight: Rain clearing east to leave a largely dry night with clear spells following. A brief period of heavy rain, thunderstorms and very gusty winds will move in from the west during the second half of the night. Minimum Temperature 13C.
Wednesday: Overnight rain will quickly clear east leaving the day cloudy with some decent sunny spells. A new batch of wind and rain will arrive in from the west later. Maximum Temperature 17C.
Outlook for Thursday to Saturday: Sunny spells and isolated showers on Thursday and Friday as it turns colder. Largely settled on Saturday but rain and strong winds developing in the west later on.

The National Maritime Operations Centre (NMOC) based at Fareham handles all operations in the area from Sussex, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Dorset and Devon. They also assist other authorities such as the Police, Fire and Ambulance with their specialist expertise. The centre is manned 24x7 and has helicopters, based at rescue bases at Portland or Lee-On-Solent, at their disposal. Fowey station has an all-weather Trent class lifeboat and an inshore D class lifeboat.
